It was on 3 January 1936 that a young Manuel Carrientos discovered what became known as ‘The Thing of Léognan’. We have never really understood when this object was first placed there, nor the circumstances of its appearance. Its material composition is also unknown to us, but we do know that the water in a nearby well had for a few weeks turned a purple colour.
In the following year a Professor William Watters from MIT attempted to demonstrate that the radius of the curvature of the ‘thing’ equated exactly tothe height of the Great Pyramid of Giza divided by pi.
But in the face of almost total indifference from scientific circles all research was subsequently abandoned.”
